DFN (Generator)

This DFN suite allows you to generate Discrete Fracture Network (DFN) parameters from your structural data and calibrate the DFN parameters with your sampling data. There are also built-in tools to synthetically sample your DFN to assess how well calibrated your DFN parameters are.

Needs the Rock Mass Data suite to work

Data

  • Structural raw data such as joint orientation, joint persistence, and joint spacing for each joint set. This could come from:
    • Scanline
    • Borehole logging + mapping (for trace length)
    • Systematic mapping

FAQ

I don’t have any trace length data, can I still use this app?

It is possible to use geotechnical knowledge to approximate the DFN inputs. Therefore, it is possible to generate DFN. However, the calibration process will not be possible, since the calibration used the raw collected data and compare it to the sampled DFN to adjust the input parameters.
